Stand by me por Ben E. King o por John Lennon

   Stand by me es una canción originalmente escrita por Ben E. King e interpretada por el mismo, pero cabe también mencionar una interpretación de esta misma por John Lennon. Ambas son maravillosas, las cuales no se pueden comparar una con otra ya que cada uno la expresó como creía que debía hacerlo. Simplemente son diferentes.

   Excepcionalmente, en cierto modo me gusta más la de John, y eso que estoy en contra de  las versiones,  ya que muchas son malas y estropean la propia canción, pero esta he de decir que la supera.

   Esta es la original de Ben E. King (por cierto en este vídeo sale un poco adelantada la canción y se pierde el primer verso).

   En segundo lugar está la de John Lennon, la única interpretación que está a  la altura.

"Cosmic dance"r by T. Rex

   El siguiente tema que expongo es el de Cosmic dancer del grupo T. Rex.

   T. Rex fue una banda de rock británica (género por el cual caracterizados además del Rock psicodélico, glam rock y  folk rock) fundada en Londres en el año 1967 por Marc Bolan. Tocó sólo una vez como quinteto junto con Steve Peregrin Took, Mickey Finn, Steve Currie y  Bill Legend. Posteriormente quedó reducida a dúo con Marc Bolan y Steve Peregrin Took.

   Con el álbum "T. Rex", de 1970, la banda no solo acortó definitivamente su nombre, sino que se pasó a los instrumentos eléctricos. A partir de entonces obtuvieron sus mayores éxitos comerciales, pero algunos consideran más interesante la música de su primera época acústica.

   La banda acabó sus días cuando Marc Bolan murió en un accidente de tráfico en 1977, sin haber cumplido los 30 años.

THE JAM says: Town called malice

   Hoy que me siento inspirada y he decidido colgar un clip del grupo The Jam en el que tocan la canción Town called malice que seguramente puede ser reconocida por aparecer en la película de Billy Elliot.

  The Jam fue un  grupo de rock inglés (aunque también sus canciones se basaban en el punk y New Wave) de finales de los años 70 y principios de los años 80. Fue uno de los grupos más populares de aquella época. Sus integrantes eran los siguientes:

  -   Paul Weller (1958)- Guitarra, voz. Compositor de casi todos los temas del grupo.

  -   Bruce Foxton (1955) - Bajo, voz. Algunas composiciones.

  -   Rick Buckler (1955) - Batería.

   El caso es que esta canción llegó a ser tan popular hasta el punto de conseguir clasificarse  número 1 del "UK singles chart". Aquí va el vídeo:
